Shelby Co Ham washing was in full swing again this year. Kids of all ages and some adults fought the windy conditions and salt in their eyes to clean their hams. Over 25 hams were cleaned the first day. Followed by 20+ more hams for Jefferson county were washed the next week. Being in charge of both groups proved to be very tiring yet still very rewarding.
Staff retreat day included getting out of the office and exploring the county with staff and employees. We visited the Red Orchard Park, Grove Hill Cemetery (for a scavenger hunt) and then to Equestrian Lake Estates for a relaxing day at the pool with a beautiful view of hay fields. Following that we returned to the office for ice cream and cake. Yum
That weekend I racked up some quality horse time while at the District 3 Horse show in Frankfort. Resulting in a few scrapes and dirty jeans and a new knowledge of dressage.
I hosted this years tractor driving contest for Shelby Co with less success than the previous year, but we still had a great time and our winner was very well qualified. I look forward to seeing him compete in the regional contest and eventually in the state competition. We even made the Sentinel News, our local news paper for the event!
Doing big things in Shelby Co. This week starts our 11 day fair and shows start Thursday. I cant wait!
And thanks to our FCS Council, our fire alarm is now going off! Gotta GOOOOOOOOO!
