What would a 4H internship be without a trip to 4H camp at Lake Cumberland?
Water, games, activities, ziplines, air rifles, sally down the alley... the best part of the intern experience from last year is fast approaching.
But now however, with another year of experience under my belt, comes more responsibilities. This year I was given the task of organizing and copying registration, insurance, and other forms and checking to make sure all our campers paperwork was satisfied.
Documentation is vital in this line of work. I'm learning this more and more every day.
This task becomes increasingly hard when the office is introduced with new printers and the printers are not working correctly.
This leads further problems when we go to sending out our newsletters. These suckers are a pain. First the staples will would not go in the right place. The paper was too thick. The paper would not feed through the bypass tray. Basically anything we were able to utilize from our previous printers, is now gone. Oh well, we persevered and the newsletters are out.
In the past two weeks, we've also had adult and camper orientations, which included some after hours work, and setting up meeting rooms and power points. Again we were faced with computer issues. The speaker system and projectors seemed to be in a protest the printers to see which could be the bigger nuisance.
We hosted our annual kids in the kitchen extravaganza, and again I was "shake shake shake shaking my butter". With a few young ladies too, we even sang "Baby" by Justin Beiber.
We hosted our monthly district board meeting and we able to purchase a utility vehicle for our groundskeeper (with my expertise thrown in).
And since it is fair season, Ive been able to assist in some judging at other fairs. Pictures, and vegetables and wood working entries were just some of the things I was able to judge.
