Making Time

When I reflect on my first couple weeks at the Clark County Extension office, the first word that comes to mind is busy. My first week consisted of district staff meeting, teen leadership meeting, and two days out on a farm teaching kids all about agriculture. The second and third week's theme was “camp”. With camp only a week away there was plenty to get done. Whether it is counselor training, camper orientation, or many supply shopping trips. Some days ended at 4:30 and a lot of days ended well past office hours. Either way, I found myself loving every minute of it. However, between the classroom visits, field trip planning, shopping trips, camp planning, and meetings and meetings and meetings, busy is what I’ve felt.

I’ve learned that if this is busy, then this is the best kind of busy. In between all the meetings and planning, the staff here still finds time to stop and laugh. Things never get too serious. One thing I’ve learned though after my first month as an intern is, “There is no such thing as too busy. If you really want something, you’ll make time for it.” Which I know rings true for each agent in this office and across the state.

My First two weeks as a Shelby County Extension Intern!

My first two weeks as an intern for the Shelby County Extension intern has been amazing! I'm so exited to get to work with amazing people and to learn more about how to work with extension! With in my first two weeks I have already gotten to experience so many new things and been able to learn a lot. I have gotten to help kids wash there hams to prepare them for the State fair. i have been able to tag along on two judging trips with the livestock judging club, and they have been teaching me a lot about a side to 4-H that I didn't know much about. We have been putting together the final touches on our camp paper work and preparing for the county fair in a few weeks. I cant wait to see what the rest of the summer has in store for me!
